Who Makes The News Beacon
The News Beacon is produced by a small editorial team covering national politics, business, technology, health and the arguments running through all of them. Contributors research and write; editors review and publish. We work across beats rather than in silos, which is how a small operation covers a lot of ground without losing the thread.

What We Cover
Six areas, chosen because they’re where most people’s questions actually land: Top News for the day’s developments, Politics for what government is doing and why, Business & Economy for the forces shaping jobs and prices, Technology for the systems quietly reshaping daily life, Health for the decisions that affect your care and your bills, and Opinion for argument, clearly labelled as argument.

How We Decide What to Publish
Our test is simple: will this leave a reader better informed than they were five minutes ago?
Stories come from wire reports, court filings, agency announcements, public records and reporting by other outlets covering the same events. A contributor establishes what’s documented, drafts the piece, and links the sources. An editor checks the draft against those sources before it goes live.

Explainers, and Why We Publish Them
Alongside daily coverage we publish explainers — how bills become laws, what campaign finance limits actually permit, how clinical trials work, what a health insurance deductible really costs you. News tells you what happened. Explainers tell you how the thing that happened was possible.
We think that second category is underserved, and it’s a deliberate part of what The News Beacon is for.
